Nancy lives with her dog pack on a small organic vegetable farm near Ashland, VA
She has been caring for area pets, horses and farm animals since she moved to Hanover. She has owned her pet sitting business since 2005.
Nancy fosters rescue dogs with Hickory Hill K-9 Rescue and adopted many of her own dogs through them. For many years she visited local nursing homes and presented humane education programs with her therapy dog, Molly Bear. Molly Bear has now crossed the rainbow bridge and Joey, her successor, is stepping up to the bat as the social representative, welcoming guest dogs to the pack.
Over the years Nancy has enjoyed many activities with her own dogs and those she has fostered and has amassed a wealth of information about local, dog friendly activities and resources, including holistic resources. She has shared this information through her writing, including a dog column in the Herald Progress. Now Nancy is also offering some of those opportunities to other dogs in the community through her farm, customized pet sitting services, training lessons and group dog walks.
Her quiet country home and large fenced yard along with her own well behaved and social dogs become a home away from home for the dog guests who come to love their visits. She provides a unique resource for people who want their pets to have the best professional care in a home experience, either your home or hers.
Nancy has a graduate degree in behavioral psychology and served as education director for a local rescue. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. Alternatives Pet Sitting LLC is a professional, insured corporation.
